After announcing its return to Le Mans for the first time in 35 years a couple of weeks back, Alpine has finally released images and details of its Nissan-powered racer set to be piloted by 24-year-old French driver Nelson Panciatici, 29-year-old Pierre Ragues and 34-year-old Tristan Gommendy.
Dubbed the Alpine N°36, the car features a Nissan V8 engine delivering a total of 500hp. This engine is then mated to a six-speed sequential transmission courtesy of racing specialists X-Trac which drives the rear wheels helping to launch the 1,984 pound racer to 100km/h in under 3 seconds and onto a top speed of 205mph.
Featuring a stunning blue and orange Alpine color scheme, young driver Nelson Panciatici is extremely excited to get behind the wheel of the racer at the upcoming 24 Hours of Le Mans.
“I can’t wait to get to Castellet and turn those wheels in blue! We’ll continue the work we started with Michelin in Magny-Cours. We’ve already made huge progress and I’m quite sure that after the various trials our engineer, Olivier, has planned for us, we will be competitive enough to aim for victory. That’s our objective and we’re aware that the LMP2 competition will be fierce.
“I know I can count on my co-drivers, Pierre and Tristan’s experience, to help me progress in this discipline. There are a few more trial sessions and two races left to get us ready for Le Mans 24 Hours and I’m feeling confident!”, Panciatici concluded.
