“A change to the speed limiter does not alter the fundamental design of the car or its engine”

The Bugatti Veyron Super Sport has earned back its title for the world’s fastest production car.

About a week ago Guinness World Recordsstripped Bugatti’s record after discovering the Veyron SS had its top speed limiter deactivated. A couple of days ago, Shelby SuperCars announced the Ultimate Aero was once again the quickest production car in the world.

That didn’t last very long as Guinness reached the conclusion “a change to the speed limiter does not alter the fundamental design of the car or its engine”, meaning the Veyron Super Sport has reclaimed the title.

The record-breaking, top speed limiter-off Veyron SS was able to reach 267.8 mph (430.98 km/h), while the production, top speed limiter-on car can achieve 258 mph (415 km/h).
